An ordained Christian minister, I spent most of my career as a university chaplain, most recently at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC. It was through officiating weddings of numerous alumni and friends that I came to realize how much I enjoy assisting couples on one of the happiest days of their lives. I have had the privilege of travelling to a variety of destinations to participate in the marriage ceremonies of a number of special couples.
Another of my passions is horses. For fourteen years, I had the privilege of partnering with an incredible half Arabian mare. Having wished for a horse all of my life, Sky’s Painted Dream was my dream come true. I purchased Dream when she was only a year old, and we had fourteen amazing years developing a truly special relationship. Unfortunately, due to an illness, she is no longer a part of my life. However, horses will always be a passion of mine. Although I don’t have a horse of my own anymore, I now live on a horse farm. In my spare time, I can often be found hanging out with the horses there and with my rescue hound dog MacFarland (better known as Farley).
The name Hitchin' Hartz is an attempt to combine my two passions (horses and weddings) with my last name. I would love to work with you to plan the wedding ceremony of your dreams. My philosophy when it comes to weddings is that it is YOUR wedding, not mine. I would be honored to assist you in making your wedding the most special day possible.
